The cycling network is growing

A new cycling path has just been built on boulevard du Plateau, between boulevard des Grives and rue de l'Atmosphère. This new two-way bike lane is separated from vehicle traffic by a one-metre buffer along the sidewalk in both directions, over a distance of one kilometre.

The parking restriction along boulevard du Plateau helps cyclists travel more safely and reduces the risk of dooring incidents, a well-known hazard where a cyclist collides with an opening car door.

This new cycling route was made possible following road rehabilitation work on boulevard du Plateau this spring, after infrastructure work related to sewer and water systems, underground electrical distribution lines from Hydro-Québec, and Enbridge Gaz Québec gas lines, as well as cable installation in summer 2025 for the future Zénith residential project.

The ARP participated with City of Gatineau municipal services in the development of this cycling path.

Special thanks to the municipal councillor for the Plateau district, Bettyna Bélizaire, for her involvement.

A great project for active transportation in the Plateau.
