Living fresco in the Champlain ecological corridor

Living fresco in the Champlain ecological corridor

The coalition to protect the Champlain ecological corridor and Mères au front de l'Outaouais invite the community to take part in a living fresco on April 2 at 2 p.m., on chemin d'Aylmer at the intersection of chemin Allen.

Large visual panels illustrating the movement of wildlife through the ecological corridor will be distributed to participants. Members of the ACTES network and the Centrale des syndicats du Québec will also join the living fresco.

Why protect the Champlain corridor?

Located south of boulevard des Allumettières, the Champlain corridor connects Gatineau Park and the Ottawa River. It plays an important role in maintaining biodiversity by linking natural habitats where animals shelter and feed, and by supporting plant dispersal across the landscape.

Unfortunately, the southern portion of the Champlain corridor is currently threatened by the proposed Village Champlain project by Brigil. The coalition is calling for the protection of this corridor and invites the public to join the living fresco in large numbers.
