Contrary to a common perception, the Plateau is also home to households facing financial challenges.
In 2021:
- 5% of the population was living below the low-income threshold, a rate comparable to Gatineau;
- among seniors, this proportion reached 4.1%, with significant financial pressures related to housing costs.
In other words, behind the image of a prosperous neighbourhood lies a more nuanced reality.
