On May 18, 19 and 20, the Environment Committee's planting working group planted 31 trees in the Ganymede Basin. This reforestation project included several native species as well as small-fruited trees and shrubs. A significant migration of boreal jaseur has been observed very early in the spring and these trees will be able to feed them as they move north. When we want to plant, we must also be aware of the environment in which we plant.
This planting would not have taken place without the commitment of Jean Damascène, Alessandra Merino, Sylvie Fillion of the Serge-Bertrand garden, Myriam Gemme of CREDDO, Simon Landry of the City of Gatineau and Marie-Eve Charlebois in the planning of the event.
The committee would like to thank the participation of Ms. Rosine's class at École des Deux-Ruisseaux as well as the student and parent volunteers. Thank you to the Serge-Bertrand community garden for the loan of tools, to the City of Gatineau through the support of the Green Fund and to the generous neighbors of rue du Frimas who gave us access to their yard for the transport of trees and access to water.
It is also important to mention the help of volunteers in the field: Amélie Beaupré-Moreau, Emmanuel Franco-Laporte, Jocelyne Richard, Jean Damascène, Alessandra Merino as well as her older daughter Brielle, Alain Pilon, Nicolas Picard, Marie-Eve Charlebois, Marc Bertrand, John and his wife Rhiannon. Thanks to the work of a dozen volunteers, the entire neighborhood will be able to see its trees grow and witness the rich biodiversity of this green space.
Your commitment to the reforestation of our community is inspiring and for that the community says a big thank you!

We won't stop there! Another plantation is already being prepared in the corner of the retention basin on Piraeus Street. If you wish to submit a site to be greened, let us know.
See you soon for exciting new greening projects.
