Special green waste collection

Special green waste collection

Autumn is the perfect season to prepare your yard for winter. To assist with this, the City of Gatineau organizes five special green waste collections each year. Three collections are scheduled this autumn, from October 14 to November 22, 2024, during the same week as your regular garbage collection.

Accepted Materials:

  • Dead leaves
  • Garden waste (plants, grass, etc.)
  • Branches less than 4 cm in diameter and up to 1.5 meters in length

Accepted Containers:

  • Paper bags (maximum of 20 bags per collection)
  • Round bins with handles
  • Rolling bins (80 to 360 liters, non-blue color, identified with a V)
  • Bundled branches (maximum of 5 bundles per collection)

Important Restrictions:

  • No plastic bags accepted
  • Maximum weight of 25 kg per bundle
  • 60 cm (24 in) clearance needed on each side of rolling bins
  • Leaf bags and round bins can be placed close together

Good to Know:

  • Branches over 4 cm and less than 10 cm can be collected via a bulky waste collection (registration required)
  • Cedar trimmings can be collected for free by local organizations
  • For your exact collection dates, check your personalized calendar on DTRITUS by entering your address.
