A community garden takes root

A community garden takes root
Dear Plateau Gardeners,
This month marks an important milestone for our community garden project at Shamal Park! Since the beginning of the month, the construction of wooden borders for our collective garden plots has been underway, thanks to the efforts of the Horti-Cité team. This tangible progress is finally giving shape to our gardening space, which we will soon begin cultivating together.

The installation of the borders is advancing well, and we will need your help to complete the landscaping in 2025. The collective spaces will be ready this spring to welcome our future plantings and provide our neighborhood with a place for sharing and biodiversity. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has participated in the planning and organization of this project so far.

If you are interested in becoming part of the gardening team, please send an email to [email protected]. Spots are limited, and you will be notified in February 2025 if your name has been selected. Please note that the collective garden approach encourages everyone to contribute and share the harvest, as there are no individual plots. We are confident that this will enrich our neighborhood's social experience and foster urban agriculture.

In the coming months, we are also planning a series of workshops and collective activities to help everyone become familiar with gardening techniques while strengthening our sense of community. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced gardener, these workshops aim to foster learning and mutual support in a friendly atmosphere.

Stay tuned for upcoming updates.

Here are some activities open to everyone:

  • Seed and Plant Exchange Evening: Share seeds, plants, and gardening tips.
  • Seedling Preparation Workshop: Learn more about soil care and eco-friendly waste management.
